Overall impression - Overall impression, horrible. Most of the pictures didn't make sense and the pictures were taken at the wrong moment. The first slide show in the portfolio was horrible. The pictures didn't have anything that made them pop or made them unique.

Name of photographer - Travis Haughton
General focus of portfolio - Deaf Child, Sports
List three problems -Some pictures needed to be more lose, pictures that had more detail didn't have good quality, some pictures weren't cropped very well an more of the frame needed to be shown.
List two things the judges like- They liked a few sports pictures and the very first picture of the little deaf boy had emotion.
Overall impression - It was good. I liked the photo story because it had good pictures and made sense.

      Name of photographer -Nick Adams
General focus of portfolio - Photoj
List three problems - Too many children in the photos, Pictures didn't have stories, The captions of the photos were too long.
List two things the judges like- The judges liked the first two pictures.
Overall impression -I didn't like it. Most of the photos didn't have meaning. Only a couple photos had emotion in them.

      2. Watch the winning portfolio critique (Dustin Snipes), and post the following:
What did the judges note as strengths as they were critiquing it?

      • Nice color
      • Nice composition
      • The photographer was behind the people running in the 4th picture
      • Shot at a wide angle
      • there was a picture where every person in the photo was doing something
      • they liked the picture of the baseball player catching the ball
      • creative
I liked every single picture in Dustin's portfolio accept for the ones that were photo shopped. I really liked the photos that were at an angle and the ones that were up from above.

      3. Watch the contest recap video.

When the judges were going through each portfolio they went very fast. They were all talking at the same time as if they were in a rush. They all agreed with each other and were on the same page. When they got to the best portfolio they all took their time to say what was so great about it and made it perfectly clear that, that portfolio was the best.

      Part 2

      1) On part 3 I agree with the judges on the photo of the man and the horse. I think the photo is cool also. I like the lighting a lot.

      2) On part 2 the judges liked the tennis photo. I didn't like it because it seemed very boring. I didn't like how her face wasn't showing. I think if her face was showing it would have been a better picture.

      Japanese Earthquake

This photo seriously made me cry. This picture makes me feel very sad and emotional. I can tell the photographer captured this picture for that very reason. They wanted everyone to understand the pain that Japan is going through right now. The photographer cropped the woman to get a better image of her facial expression.

I like this photo because it helps show that lots of innocent lives and families have been lost from the tsunami and earthquake. It makes me want to help out and do something about this disaster. The photographer cropped the photo to fit the photos in.

The photographer used depth to take this photo. As you can tell the photo was taken from a long distance and you can see the damage that has been done along with the Japanese troops. The photo just makes me feel gloomy but also I'm also glad that something is being done to help out Japan.

      Touching Strangers

      1. What do you think about this project and photo essay?
I thought it was really funny to see how uncomfortable people are with touching people they don't know. You can really see the awkwardness between the people in the photos. Their facial expressions are so priceless.
      2. What would you do if someone approached you with a camera and asked you to participate in a photo shoot and then asked you to touch a stranger?
If the person is creepy looking or old I would be very uncomfortable touching them. If the stranger is good looking or a youngster then I wouldn't mind.
      3. Think of an unusual photo shoot similar to this one that you think would be fun to go and shoot.
I think it would be funny to go shoot cats with wigs on.
      4. Finally, tell me what you thought of the photography, did the photographer think about the rules of photography that you know about? What types of photos did he take?
It looks to me like the photographer wasn't trying to use any rules. The people in the photos are positioned in the same way for every photo.

      Cool advertising idea

This is my favorite advertisement out of the bunch. I like the colors of the dragon. It's really creative and artistic. I think the best part of the dragon is its tail. This advertisement makes me think that at&t phones are very unique and have cool details and that you can personalize your at&t phones.
